Much loved, the aroma of true vanilla is complex, with sweet, floral, honeylike notes and coffee/cocoa undertones.  True vanilla from the bean of the vanilla orchid is rare nowadays.  It is considered to be uplifting, euphoric and aphrodisiac.  Vanilla soothes the nervous system and dispels stress, depression and negative mental states.  When applied topically in a lotion or oil, it promotes deep relaxation and serenity.
Blends well with: orange, rose, bergamot, sandalwood, geranium, lemon
Major constituents: vanillin, hydroxybenzoic aldehyde, vanillic acid
