Canadian hemlock spruce has a distinctive, fresh, green aroma, like a Christmas tree.  The essential oil is obtained from the tree leaves and young branches by steam distillation.  As with all conifers, spruce is specific to the respiratory system and opens up the lungs when inhaled or diffused.  Anti-bacterial and anti-viral, spruce  is also a strengthening, cleansing, reviving and restorative essential oil.
Blends well with: lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, rosemary, sage, lavender
Major constituents: alpha-pinene, bornyl acetate, phellandrene, myrcene, limonene
